Becoming an SDR

Untitled design

How does it feel to FINALLY be graduating? I can imagine you are feeling relieved, burnt out, in need of a drink... Well you’ll be glad to hear that this is exactly how I felt in my last month of uni. A bit stressed in fact, as I had no idea what the future had in store for me. I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do which scared me, as nowadays most people (supposedly) have their lives together by the time they are 25. I was asking myself a lot of questions: Would I get a job soon? How would I afford to live in London? Aren’t graduate roles quite hard to come by? These were all completely rational thoughts to have, especially with post uni life feeling so different and adult-like. You’ll be happy to hear that not all hope is lost, as I come bearing some good news! I work for a company called Venatrix, and we want you.

Have you heard of Venatrix?

I’m sure you will have seen our infamous videos on Linkedin... If you haven’t, let me tell you a bit about our amazing team. Venatrix is London’s number one source of SDR talent into fast growth SaaS companies. We are extremely passionate about investing in the future of young sales professionals, and we want to hear from you! You might be thinking: Am I still eligible even if I have no sales experience? YES! 100%. It is very rare that we see graduates who have previous sales experience, which is why everyone is welcome. Venatrix conducts a four step recruitment process especially for graduates. We help you explore your options, introduce you to relevant companies, coach you on how to be successful in interviews and negotiate your final job offer. We all have to start somewhere, and Venatrix will help you to do just that.

So what actually is an SDR?!

SDR stands for Sales Development Representative. In these roles, you will be focusing on prospecting, moving, and qualifying sales opportunities through the pipeline and then delivering those opportunities to individuals who are responsible for closing sales (eg. Account Executives). Some examples of leading SaaS companies are: Dropbox, Canva and Salesforce (SaaS stands for software as a service).

Sales is a career path that can sometimes be deemed as challenging or time consuming. Every job has its pressure elements, and if you want to be a successful team player, then of course it might be time consuming. But think of the rewards! Sales is performance based, meaning the more you sell, the more you earn. Some of our candidates that have landed SDR roles are earning up to £45,000 in their first year in the role. How about that?!

What are successful SDRs really like?

Some of the top performing SDRs all share similar characteristics. Here at Venatrix, we speak to top-performing SDRs on a daily basis so we know what it takes to get there! They have the ability to think on their feet, be data driven, be creative and are able to understand the ‘why?’.

I might be biased, but as an SDR, you will meet some of the most incredible people (as we know, contacts are diamonds in the salesworld). You will gain a lot of respect for doing the role, especially from colleagues and customers. There are so many opportunities to grow and flourish, and as we also know... A career in sales rewards those who love to learn.

Now enough about us, it’s over to you... Are you an ambitious person who is hungry for success? Are you money driven? Do you want to work in one of the most lucrative industries in the world? If you answered yes to at least two of those then what are you waiting for! Fill in this form https://venatrixuk.com/contact-us/ and one of the team will get back to you!
